This policy explains what personal information Wildscope (“we”) collects through wildscopemurbad.org, why we collect it and how we look after it.
Information we collect
- Forms — when you contact us, register for a program, offer to volunteer, propose a collaboration or submit an observation, we collect the details you enter, such as your name, email, phone number, town and message.
- Observation photos — photos you upload with an observation, together with the date and general location you provide.
- Technical data — like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical information (such as IP address and browser type) in server logs for security and to keep the site running. We use your IP address briefly to limit spam submissions.
How we use it
- To reply to your message and manage program registrations, including contacting you about changes or cancellations.
- To review observations and, where you gave permission, publish your photos on this website with credit to you.
- To keep the website secure and prevent spam.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Storage and access
Form entries are stored privately in the website’s administration area, which only authorised Wildscope team members can access. A copy is sent by email to the Wildscope team. The website is hosted by Hostinger.
Cookies and third-party services
- The public website does not use advertising or analytics cookies.
- WordPress sets cookies only for team members who log in to manage the site.
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers when you view the site.
- Share buttons on articles link to WhatsApp, Facebook, LinkedIn and X only when you click them.
How long we keep it
We keep form entries only as long as needed for the purpose they were collected — for example, until a program and its follow-up are complete — and delete them after that. Published observation photos remain on the site until you ask us to remove them.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to remove a photo you submitted, by emailing wildscopemurbad@gmail.com.
Children
Participants under 18 should be registered for programs by a parent or guardian.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
[PLACEHOLDER] Ask a qualified person to review this policy against your legal obligations before launch, especially if Wildscope starts using analytics, newsletters or online payments.
